The Wichita Theatre Performing Arts Academy is

“THE” premiere Arts Education program of North Texas.

 

Besides exceptional training in various aspects of the arts, our workshops help promote confidence, self-esteem and leadership skills. Each workshop is designed to teach numerous facets of the performing arts. Whether interviewing for a job, auditioning for a show or just doing a report in front of your class at school, performing is a part of life. Our reputable instructors will help you improve, enrich and compliment your upcoming performance. From acting to auditioning or movement and speech, our Performing Arts Academy offers second to none instruction. The Wichita Theatre provides a safe, healthy environment for you to learn and grow. We use age appropriate material to educate and develop our students. We strive to raise the standard of excellence for art in our community.

 

Spring 2013 Workshop Sessions

 

AUDITIONING WORKSHOP:

Technique, practice and presentation

 

*Parents are requested to be in attendance for the technique session which is set up in a masterclass format with theatre producers, directors, and performers sharing in seminar and Q&A format as well as at the final presentation where instructors will issue critiques with parents present.

 

ACTING 1:

ACTING: Learning emotional connection, character development and direction

SPEECH: Clear speech, articulation, breathing and posture

 

ACTING 2:

IMROVISATION: Helps promote creative thinking, self-awareness and stage comradery

 

MOVEMENT: Basic dance, stage combat and actors movement

 

At the end of each workshop series, there will be a showcase to demonstrate what our students have learned. After the presentation, our instructors will sit down and individually evaluate the students progress. At this time we will answer any question you may have.

 

 

 

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE:

 

Auditioning Workshop: April 8, 9, 11 or April 29, 30, May 2

All Beginners Audition workshops 7:00PM to 8:00PM

 

Acting 1: April 22, 23, 25 at 7:00PM to 8:00PM or May 13, 14, 16 at 5:30PM to 6:30PM

 

Acting 2: May 6, 7, 9 or May 20, 21, 23 at 5:30PM-6:30PM

 

We require all new students to attend our Auditioning Workshop before graduating to our advanced programs. This workshop is an excellent way to educate our students on general theatre principles and auditioning basics. Once the student is familiar with these essentials, he or she will have a better foundation to progress to the next level.

 

*If you have performed in any Wichita Theatre production, you may be eligible for a Director's Approval. In this case you will not be required to enroll in the Beginners Workshop.

 

COST:

Auditioning Workshop Series - $35.00 for all three workshop sessions

Acting 1 - $45.00 for all three workshop sessions

Acting 2: $45.00 for all three workshop sessions
